Open kitchen makes for great entertainment. I had a great seat in front of the sauce and garnish station with view of all the burners where the chef was tossing woks. I sat at the bar - close quarters with other patrons. I ordered the panang curry that came with rice on a 1-5 spicy scale. It. came with onions, bell peppers and basil. Pretty simple. The curry was a little sweet- I don't normally order panang but I do get curry often, so I'm not sure if panang is sweeter than normal. Food was good! Menu is on a piece of wood- not very long which makes choosing easy, actually. Not mind blowing, but speedy service, no frills, live entertainment/open kitchen and friendly servers. Decent prices too. I'd recommend Thai Tom to someone who's in the area and needs a quick bite. I want to try more Thai in the U district, but I'd definitely come back. <p>Fast service.
